Retreatcation Day 2

Day 2 of Spring Retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains I would usually be up about 7 am and after dressing would get a cup of Chai Tea. I would have picked up the Chai Tea mix at a small store – The Bread Basket on the road to Floyd. But this year at my Retreatcation – an At Home Retreat I started the day with some Ginger Lemon Tea while reviewing my meal notes & checking my emails.

Sunrise in the Blue Ridge Mountains

I’m not really an early morning riser, but while at the Quilt Retreat it is peaceful & relaxing to see the sunrise.

The plan for Day 2 was to start by ironing what was stitched Thursday, followed by a bit of cutting and then sewing.

Well that WAS the plan. But I discovered 2 gallons of milk that weren’t even past their sell by date had gone sour. So after breakfast I made an emergency run to the store picking up a few other items while I was there.

The pollen got to me & between the headache & burning eyes I stayed away from the sewing room.

Although not quilting related the afternoon’s activity consisted of a training session for D2.

D2 wondering what’s happening next

Last fall we had a new member join our pack. Actually there were two new members- brothers born September 10, 2022. Our daughter has Kit & my hubby has D2.

Growing puppies need a lot of work to train them. Friday afternoon we worked on Sit, Down. Come, Leave it, Wait, Kennel up, Pillow (some Trainers use the term “Place” to identify a specific spot), and Foose (Heel). I’m not sure who was more tired, but it was a good session.

RetreatcationAt Home Quilting Retreat – Meals

Leftovers make meal prep easy. Leftover Refrigerator Biscuits from the night before & scrambled eggs from breakfast the day before wSunrise. Cheese & a strip of bacon cooked made a quick breakfast completed with fresh fruit & the remaining Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

When cutting carrots & potatoes for the slow pot roast Thursday I diced up some extra for Friday’s Vegetable beef soup. I combined them with a can of tomatoes & vegetables and some shredded roast and stock and just put it into my small Crockpot for lunch. For lunch we had the soup, some cheese & crackers and the Brownies I made while baking the biscuits the night before.

Friday’s dinner was a one skillet dish made with Monday’s chicken leftovers – Chicken Pot Pie Noodles Skillet . No crust needed – just throw the leftover chicken & a few ingredients in a skillet while the noodles boil. Had leftover Biscuits to complete the meal. Dessert was the last of the lunch Brownies. Saturday I will make some Bisquick Strawberry shortcakes at the same time I cook the Breakfast Casserole so we’ll have a special dessert Saturday.

Hoping to spend all day Saturday in the Sewing Room & make a lot of progress on the remaing stars. Let’s see if my plans work out!

Hope you are finding some time to stitch!

Happy Stitching!

  1. Glad you are enjoying your retreatcation! Kit & D2 are just adorable… and I’m sure everyone was exhausted from all that training, LOL! D2 looks completely zonked out.
