Friday Finds — 4/18/2014

Today has been cloudy & cool cold.  So I made a big slow pot full of vegetable soup with sausage – you know the kind: Empty the Refrigerator all in one pot!  Then I heated the house making some melt-in-your-mouth sweet cornbread.

Well here are this week’s Friday Finds – Better late than never, I guess.

Free Patterns

Fat Quarter Shop shares a free pattern – A Tisket, A Tasket.  One of the nice features that the Fat Quarter Shop often does is to have a supporting YouTube Video.

Tip Tuesday–04/15/2014

Summer is trying to sneak in.  Temperatures have been in the 80’s but Winter is still trying to have a say.  We’re under a freeze warning and it may get cold tomorrow night.

Today I have a couple of Tips.  I admit, I am a list maker.  Yes, my daily list starts something like this:

  • “Get Up”
  • “Get Dressed”
  • “Eat Breakfast”

This way I can start the day with several items crossed off and I feel I’m accomplishing something!

This also translates into some ‘virtual’ lists I use when sewing.  At a Quilt Retreat I attended earlier this month, I had a number of projects and spent the first day just cutting.  Here is what I did to keep my projects organized:

March 2014 Summary

The month started out with our 25th snow event of the Winter (that won’t stop!).  As far as snow was concerned, it wasn’t significant – maybe 5 inches – but it began with 12 hours of rain, sleet & winter mix that could have been a lot more snow.  Cold temps continued lower than average. And you can guess how the month ended – Yes!  More Snow.  We had a heavy rain on the 29th and on the 30th it changed to Snow – another 2 inches!!

Quilting For Good – I’m guessing everyone had a bit of “Cabin Fever” as we had a full house.  Eighteen ladies spent the day cutting, ironing, piecing, sandwiching, quilting, binding and sewing on labels. You can read all about it on my post here.
