First day of Fall & the day ended with bright sun, brisk breeze (wind) and dropping temperatures. I think the days of temperatures in the 90’s! Looking forward to seeing the colors of fall!
Fall QAL – Thursdays – Stitching
I don’t have any formal QALs scheduled on Thursdays. My plans are to use Thursdays as a “catch up” day or to work on UFOs or WIP.
Not really a QAL, but Thursdays are designated “hand stitching” day. I’m part of a group of ladies who meet most Thursdays (if our schedules permit) and work on our individual projects – hand piecing, applique, quilting or any other hand sewing. We visit, share projects & share our knowledge.
This week it was just the two of us. I worked on stitching down a label and a hanging sleeve, while my friend did some embroidery accent to the table runner she’s making.
Other Thursday Stitching
I started the day adding the final border to the Quilt of Valor (QOV) I have been working on. So the top (flimsy) is now finished.
I bought the fabric at Weaver’s Dry Goods aka Lancaster Home & Fabrics in Lititz, PA, in July when we took my sewing machine up for service & repairs. But I didn’t get started until August after I finished 2 tops for Fabric Cafe. Because some colors like to run, especially reds & some blues, I did wash this fabric before starting.

On August 21st, I cut enough fabric to make 8 Friendship Star Blocks along with some fabric to make 2 rows a queen quilt. I have been alternating working on the 2 quilts for the past month. I’m pleased to have 1 top finished & 1 top nearly finished.
That’s it for Thursday. Hope you’re getting some sewing done.
Happy Stitching!
