I don’t know where you all live, but here in the United States the south eastern states are being threatened by Hurricane Ian. Nearly the entire state of Florida has been affected by this storm before it moves on up the east coast. We have family and friends in its path. Our thoughts & prayers are for the safety for all experiencing this storm.
I have NOAA Hurricane Center on my Browser favorites. Click here to check out their site for info on the storm

Fall QAL – Wednesday – QOV 2022 Mystery QAL Long May She Wave
I’m already behind and this Wednesday was only the 2nd Clue. This Mystery will create a Quilt that is 62″ x 81″. I will continue to work on this and make progress.
I downloaded Clue #2 and it requires using my Red fabric which I hadn’t washed yet. So while I was cutting the white fabric for 60 more Flying Geese Blocks I threw my red fabric in the wash.
There is a lot of discussion between quilters as to whether or not to prewash fabric. My opinion is “It Depends.” I don’t prewash precut fabric such as Jelly Rolls (2-1/2″ x width of fabric), Charm Packs (5″ Squares) & Layer Cakes (10″ squares). A lot of other fabric doesn’t get prewashed. BUT I do prewash Batiks, and any dark fabric such as deep reds, navy, forest green, dark purple & more. These fabrics usually have more dye & there is a strong possibility of these colors running.
I used 2 Color Catchers when I washed my red fabric and added 1 cup of white vinegar. I also scheduled 2 rinses. Originally the Color Catchers were white. Here are the two that I had in the wash with 3 yards of red fabric. OH, MY!!
Imagine that fabric stitched to white fabric and later washed!
Other Wednesday Stitching
No other Sewing got done today. But I did do some prep for Saturday. I will be attending a Virtual Zoom Quilt Retreat. So I made sure my computer had all the updates installed, and checked my Zoom App to be sure all were working. I then found a place to sit my computer near my sewing machine.
I’m hoping to get a lot of stitching done Saturday which will catch me up on a couple of my QALs. I think I will also probably throw something into the slow pot for dinner.
Looks like it will be a rainy weekend. If you are in Hurricane Ian’s path, stay safe!
Happy Stitching!

I’m in Myrtle Beach and we just got an alert for hurricane force winds late today & tomorrow π Ugh!!
I’m with Sharon, I’d wash that red fabric again π

I’d likely wash that red fabric a second time. That’s an awful lot of dye.
