2025 has started out soooo cold! It’s nearly halfway through January & between vacation, holidays & snow days our daughter has only worked 2 days! Our 1st snow was about 8 inches & closed schools & businesses for 2 days. Friday’s snow was just a little over an inch. But with the ice, driving was not good in the neighborhood. At least the sun has been shining yesterday & today making the temperatures in the teens & 20’s seem better.
The snow, ice & cold temperatures are creating havoc for everyone. Our grandson hasn’t had school this year & a package that was sent last Tuesday & normally would have been here by Friday or Saturday is still wandering 3 states away (about 1,000 miles away)!
I’m trying to be more organized (is that really possible? ) this year & have created several lists. One list is for some of my many UFOs. Another is for projects I want to do. The third list is to keep track of the samples I make for Fabric Cafe.

One of my favorite bloggers is Carole at From My Carolina Home. In the past she has hosted Online/Zoom Retreats/Sewing days. Everyone enjoys the day of sewing or just working in their “happy place” while visiting with others discussing books, TV, movies & whatever comes to mind. It is come & go, spend a little time or stay the entire day, and there is always a show & tell of what projects we all worked on. I get so much done as my family doesn’t bother me because I’m in a Zoom Meeting – LOL!

Tell me about the Zoom meeting! I might need to do this. I can’t get any quilting done at home. Are y’all talking during the meeting? I guess I’m worried about my messy sewing room being on a Zoom meeting. Camelia

A Zoom Sewing Retreat is basically an appointment to sew. A free Zoom account is limited to 40 minutes & a few attendees. Carole has a paid account which allows more people & longer times. She charges $5 to help pay for the Zoom account. You can come for an hour or all the time, come when it begins or come late. You position your camera to show just what you want. I use a computer but others use their tablet or phones. We talk or you can just listen while you sew, iron, cut or clean your room. Some leave for lunch, others bring lunch & visit. We will have show n tell. And it is a great place to ask questions or opinions on quilting issues you may have. I get so much done. Like an in person retreat I try to have projects lined up & supplies on hand so I can dive in to working. It’s fun! No packing/unpacking or leaving something at home.
