Fabric Cafe Sample Tops – September 2025

I always have time for a box of 3-yard Bundles, and sometimes 5-yard Bundles, from Fabric Cafe. I like to say I Postal Commute. They send me fabric bundles via FedEx and I return Sample Tops I made after testing the pattern.

Current Fabric Cafe Project

I have to wait to share what I make until either the pattern or fabric is officially released. Last year I tested 20 patterns – Seventeen 3-yard tops and three 5-yard tops.

I thought I’d share some of the tops I made last year now that the patterns have been released. In September 2025 I made 3 tops that are in the book Weekend 3 Yard Quilts.

Weekend 3 Yard Quilts

There are eight patterns in the book and the 3 patterns that I made were – Sea Breeze, Ramble and Wanderlust. Keeping it simple & beginner friendly there are no Half Square Triangles (HST) yet they all make dynamic designs.

The Sea Breeze pattern makes a 40″ x 56″ size throw. This top, as the book title suggests, can be pieced in one weekend. Start it on a Friday and it will be completed by Sunday.

The Ramble pattern finishes to a 46″ x 58″ size throw. As with the other patterns in the book there are enlargement instructions to make a Twin size & Queen/King size quilt.

The Wunderlust pattern makes a 43″ x 61″ throw. All of the patterns in this book are made by strip piecing and some stitch-and-flip creating bold designs.

To share the fabric and quilt patterns, Donna, Fran and Hannah make YouTube Videos. These are currently being shown at 4 pm CDT every Tuesday & Thursday on their Facebook Page. You can also go back and see earlier videos on their YouTube Channel.

You may like to view their YouTube video which introduced this book & patterns on March 17, 2026.

I look forward to sharing more of the patterns I’ve tested.

Hope you are making progress on your projects.

Happy Stitching,

  2. That Seabreeze pattern looks like it has HST’s. I really like that one.

It does look like it has HSTs but instead it uses Stitch & Flip to help create the illusion. It has a rectangle & square which is stitched on the diagonal & flipped. I may do a tutorial on that.
