I am basically a homebody and would be very content to stay at home. I try to consolidate any trips into one or two days each week.
Now that I’m not longer adding two days running to PT I almost feel like I have two more days in my week!
Monday was errands and Thursday was Stitching Group and the rest of the week I was at home. We took advantage of the extra time to catch up on some housework.
Sewing Room –
I’m still quilting the Dino Quilt but to rest my shoulder and move around I take a break to sort fabric and organize some other projects. It is recommended to get up and move every 20 minutes. I think I’m sitting at the machine for more like 45 minutes.
Finding Fabric – our great-niece is expecting a baby boy in October and, of course he will need a quilt made just for him. I think the new Fabric Cafe Pattern Breezeway would be the perfect pattern to highlight the Focus novelty pattern I found. I just need to pick out 2 more fabrics. I’m thinking a green and a brown.
Picking fabric is hard for me. My mind has difficulty envisioning the fabric placed in the pattern. So I choose 3 greens and 3 browns and took pictures. I also change the picture to be in Black and White to view the light & dark values.

I’ll watch this for a day or two & then pick. The Green on the Right very probably will be chosen, but still not sure of the browns
This pattern only has one block which makes it a quick pattern. We’ll see how it goes. Maybe a project for next weekend.
UFO Management – This UFO was made last summer. It actually was a sample before making it in the actual fabric. The backing and batting needed to be cut so it can be quilted. I’d love to get this done before the holidays.

Adding a Hanging Sleeve – I received this as a gift and I wondered how best to display it. While cleaning my Sewing Room I found this Hanger I had bought years ago and it’s the perfect size.

Garden Update
Our mystery squash plant doesn’t seem to have many blooms left on it. And the weeds are plentiful!
BUT there are two nice round squash growing. So we can eliminate Butternut or Zucchini or Summer Squash. So now I’m wondering is it a Pumpkin or is it Watermelon?

I used AI/Google Search adding a picture and it said this is a Round Zucchini also known as a Cue Ball Zucchini. We had never heard of that let alone ever had seeds for it. I’m wondering if we should harvest them!
The Hostas are really happy!

In the Kitchen
Boneless Pork Loin Roast – I use my Crockpot a lot. In the summer it keeps my kitchen cooler of course. Year round the Crockpot, which I often just call a Slow Pot, enables me to cook either a whole dinner or at least the entrée while giving me time in my Sewing Room.
A Boneless Pork Roast is one of our favorite things to cook. I like to buy a whole boneless pork loin when it’s on sale and cut it into 3 semi-equal pieces. This usually gives me three 3-4 pound roasts which fit my 3 quart Crockpot. Two of them get wrapped well and are frozen while the third gets cooked.

I keep it simple. Some Olive Oil and a packet of dry Onion Soup mix (like Lipton Onion Soup mix) in a zip top plastic baggie. Add the roast and turn it to completely coat the meat. If you don’t want to use the dry onion soup mix, you could use a packet of dry italian salad dressing mix or just add your own seasonings. Allow it to sit while I prep the Crockpot.

I give the pot a good spray of cooking spray (I use Pam). Then slice a medium onion and add to the bottom of the pot. Sometimes I’ll add a stalk or 2 of celery to keep the roast off the bottom of the pot.
The roast is added on top of the onions & celery. I add 1/2 cup of water to the plastic bag to rinse it out and pour over the roast. If I have some leftover chicken or beef stock I will add it instead of the water. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.

After 4 hours I check the roast’s temperature. Recommended internal temperature for pork is 145°F. I put the roast on a plate, spoon some juice over it and tent with aluminum foil to rest (and cool) for about 10 minutes.

Hubby uses our electric carving knife and slices the roast. There are three of us and this roast will last us at least 2 main meals and maybe one or two lunches.

We just add some mashed potatoes and maybe some frozen broccoli and dinner is ready!
Greek Yogurt & Jello Key Lime Pie Update – This time in the correct size Pie Crust. Topped with whipped cream.

Reminder – Fabric Cafe posted a follow up video on Thursday showing the 8 new Panel Pizzazz patterns made with yardage and not just panels.
I think I’m going to make the Breezeway pattern with some novelty fabric! Watch for it!
Hope you are making progress on whatever you are stitching this week!
Happy Stitching!

I would have voted “Pumpkin.” Who knew there was so much variety in zucchini?!

So I’m wondering, do we trust AI/Google and harvest it now and eat a Zucchini or wait to see if it turns orange and is a pumpkin? We may pick one & let the other one continue to grow.
