Perfect weekend for sewing! Cool, cloudy & rainy. No where we wanted to go and too messy to do anything outside.
The meteorologist called it a Nor’easter. Growing up I only remembered that referring to snow storms in New England. According to AI & Wikipedia apparently they are most common & most violent from November to March. This storm develops in the western North Atlantic Ocean and impacts the upper North Atlantic U.S. coast up to Canada.
Fabric Cafe Top #1
This pattern really only has one block but it included quite a few HSTs. Testing this pattern kept my OCD busy. I took my time assembling the rows and matching points and seams.
Finally this one is finished and this week I’ll be working on #2.
Other Sewing
I did take a break before starting Top #2 and did some other sewing.
Bell Table Topper – I’m determined to finish this before the holidays.
Hanging Sleeve – First step was to make a Hanging Sleeve. I know this is a table topper but I wanted the option to hang it if I wanted. After trimming the quilt I had enough leftover backing fabric to make a matching sleeve.

Double Fold Binding – Since this is a small quilt I am using a 2-1/2″ Double Fold Binding. This will give a bit larger edge to the quilt. Once machine stitched to the front I’ll hand stitch it to the back at our Thursday Stitching Group.

I’m still deciding how to label it. Maybe I’ll sleep on it.
Quick UFO Finish – These Fall Mini Mats just required a little quilting to help hold them together. So I changed to Brown thread and finished them with some straight line stitching. Now I’m ready for October!
Moving on to Top #2 this week.
Just a Note – Baby Lucas was born this weekend (9 lbs 6 ozs) and is enjoying his Woodland Friends II quilt. See the finished quilt on this Post.
Hope you are making progress on whatever you are stitching this week!
Happy Stitching!
