Project #1, Step #2 & Purcellville Road Trip

Wednesday,

Yesterday was Project #1, Step #2:  Trip to Home Depot to purchase the Cement & supplies for the Sidewalk remake.  The day ended with rain, so it was too wet to mix & pour.  Woke this morning with the hole partially filled with water.  I did Office work in the morning and started some sorting/cleaning in my sewing space.  We hope to rearrange & clean the room by this weekend.

Today was Travel Day.  M & K ran around looking at used cars after she picked up/delivered a rescue from a shelter in PG County.

Needlechasers Quilt Guild Summer Luncheon:  Actually it was a Road Trip & Luncheon — We traveled to Purcellville, VA, to shop at WebFabrics and followed that with a Lunch at Magnolia at the Mill.  Some traveled in a small bus and others traveled in their own cars.  I drove myself because I wanted to make a couple of stops on the way.

I came home the scenic route – Took Hwy 15 north of Leesburg & crossed the Potomac on White’s Ferry, then drove through Poolesville, Darnestown, & Rockville to get to home.  It was MUCH better than going back toward DC and battling the beltway during rush hour!

We’re both tired!  So tonight we’re not doing much!

Project #1 – Step #1

Monday,

Yesterday was a busy day:  Laundry, Pack/Load Car, Drive to Hagerstown, Meet B & trade cars, Shop some in Hagerstown, Frederick, Lunch & Home.

Today was an Office Day for me.  I had to work on May Financials & Draft 09-10 Budget for the Preschool.  It didn’t go smoothly, so didn’t get to a stopping point until almost 4 pm.  The rest of the evening will be resting and doing some Web Page updates for PCBAA & NCCC.

M started Project #1 – Replacement of the connecting walk between the Ramp & the Driveway.  The Paving Stones had sunk and shifted enough that they were not adequate for the wheelchair.  Step #1:  Remove the Pavers, enlarge the space and place spacers for pouring the cement.  Neighbor across the street saw M working and came over to help.  They got some sod cut & we’ll use that to fill in some of the spaces in the back yard.  So it is now ready for the rains to come — that will help "pound" down the loose soil.

Next is a trip to Home Depot for the cement & supplies.  We’ll wait for a couple of days in a row without a forecast of rain and then comes mixing & pouring.

Textile Museum in DC

My Quilt Guild – NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase – is participating in Demo Days at the Textile Museum in Washington, DC. I did my part. I assisted in the Demo today for 2 hours helping with the Make It – Take It: Quilted Fabric Postcards. They are actual Postcards that can be mailed through USPS.

M was nice to me – He drove me down, found a parking space and sat in the car working on his Design & Supplies List for his Ramp/Sidewalk Project.  He (we) will be disassembling the existing ramp and rebuilding it, and laying a concrete link between the ramp/sidewalk & the driveway. I called him when I was done and he picked me up.

It was kinda late so we stopped by Subway for a late lunch.  Dinner tonight will be simple.
