Project #3 – Steps 1,2 & 3

Tuesday,

Today has been some office work for me followed by some organization of (free) Quilt Patterns which I have downloaded from the Internet.

M & K worked on Project #3
Step #1 – Design & Measure for platform
Step #2 – Purchase necessary lumber & supplies – M went to Magruders’ for some groceries and Home Depot
Step #3 – Cut Lumber to fit – K came over after work and they set up ‘shop’ in the drive.  They had to race the weather – dark clouds & breezies warned that rain was on it’s way.

We ate Dinner: London Broil that M had grilled a couple of weeks ago, Squash w/onions & Mashed Potatoes.

After Dinner K went down to check her laundry and OPPS! the washing machine is full of water, but not agitating.  There is electricity to the machine and it will add water, but nothing else happens – no agitating, no draining, no spinning.  Looks like we’ve got another unexpected Project.

Project #2 – Continued; Project #1 – Completed

Monday,

Spent yesterday working on the Sewing Room Re-Organization – sorting fabric & rearranging.  Today has been spent going through & reorganizing a 6′ bookcase.  It has been holding an assortment of ‘stuff’ — So I’ve gone thru alot of it, and have tossed old magazines & papers that go back to the 1990’s.  I shredded two bags of stuff and tossed a box full of old magazines.

I found b-day cards to Dad from his brother & sister, a receipt for a guitar purchased by Mom in October 1966, school tuition receipts from nursing school & seminary, prescription records from the 1970’s and a b-day card to EAS from G’mom D dated 10/17/1954.  I guess I come by the ‘pack-rat’ gene naturally! [I kept all this stuff!]

Project #2 is taking much longer than I expected. Thinking

M worked outside today, including mowing our yard & a neighbor’s.

Project #1 – Completed! – M removed the frames & trimmed the expansion joints from the sidewalk and filled in along the edges with dirt & sod.  As the dirt settles, we’ll have to fill in some more, but that comes with time.

Project #1 – Steps #3 & 4

Friday,

Showers are in the forecast, but hopefully it will be hit-and-miss and will miss us.  It has been pretty sunny most of the day, so M decided to risk it and work on the Sidewalk remake.

Project #1 (Sidewalk remake), Step #3 – Mix & Pour Cement (the hard part) & Smooth it out;

Step #4 – Cement set up/dry (easy for us – all we do is sit back and wait).  Will need to cover it if/when rains come.

While M was busy with the Sidewalk Project, I was working in my Sewing Room.  I moved alot of things out of the room so I could vaccum and move furniture around.  M upgraded one of the electrical outlets to a grounded/three-prong one.  Tomorrow he will hang one of my quilt racks so that I can hang/display one of his mother’s quilts.

We’ve both done too much and so have stopped for the night.  I have to clean off our bed before bedtime.  Tomorrow much to do and a cookout.

Unexpected Road Trip

Thursday,

Unexpected Road Trip – 350+ miles, Round-trip to Williamsburg, VA.  K’s been looking for a new-to-her car.

Yesterday she and her Dad went on a Road Trip North to Baltimore & areas.  After searching in person and via Internet she found a car she thought was it — in Williamsburg.

So clean up my car and load up M&M, K & Tay (four-legged), and off we went!  See what she came home with!
