The 2021 Project Linus Mystery QAL Challenge fund raising contest winners will be announced TOMORROW (2/20/2021). There is still time to contribute. The goal this year is $22,000 and as of yesterday the total donated was $16,418. Each vote is a donation to Project Linus in support of their mission to provide comfort to children experiencing medical or emotional trauma (read about it here) . I’m sharing the final notes about my progress making my Lucy’s Love Notes Quilt.
I guess you could say I’m addicted to QAL’s (Quilt Alongs), especially if it is a Mystery. The first quilt top I made was a Mystery QAL The very first year I started quilting, I went to as many quilt shows as I could. At one of those shows, I heard about a Quilt Retreat. The project was a Mystery QAL which we worked on from Thursday – Sunday. Once finished, I had a beautiful quilt top which, if I had seen the finished quilt, I would not have even attempted it. Was it difficult, maybe. Was it a learning experience, YES!

Over the years boxes seem to multiple in our basement and at some point it is necessary to stop the spread and finally go through them. This is what hubby has been doing off & on for the past several months.
One discovery was some old letters. One was written by my Mother to her Grandmother when Mom was 10, and the other was from my Grandmother to my Mother documenting some of my maternal genealogy. Note the cost of postage.
Another find was a family picture, probably taken by my Father. He liked taking pictures and even had equipment for developing black & white photos. This picture has my Father’s parents, my mother, my sister, myself and my Father standing on the back outside stairs. The notation said it was Thanksgiving 1951.
