Saturday’s dinner was “empty the fridge,” so no major cooking was planned. I like days like that. More time for sewing!
I started the day with giving my machine a mini Spa Day – clean & oil the bobbin area, changed the needle & wound a couple of bobbins. Then did some light cleaning on the ironing board & cutting table.

Continue readingHave I mentioned my Sewing Room needs cleaning. It seems to continuously remain in that state. Just as soon as I feel it’s getting clean, I start digging through shelves and boxes to find something.
I’m not sure that it helps that I’m almost always working on multiple projects. This requires stacks of fabrics to be available. Currently, I have Fall Fabrics in one stack and Christmas Fabrics in another pile. Some novelty fabric is waiting for inspiration for possible Christmas presents. Not to mention there are some UFOs waiting for completion.
Our neighborhood has a group for giving away unwanted items called Buy Nothing. Daughter and hubby found a Vintage Singer Sewing Machine and brought it home. The plan was to clean it up before telling me about it.
When I recently found out about the machine I took some pictures and did a bit of research. These pictures are before the cleanup.
Obviously, this is a Singer Sewing Machine.
At first glance I immediately knew it was a model 15 because of the position of the tension discs. The Tension is located on the left side faceplate.
In the U.S. and Canada, the first Monday of September is a Federal holiday honoring workers & labor unions. Other countries celebrate workers & unions on May 1st.
It also is the unofficial end of summer with schools back in session and hints of cooler weather to come.
