5 Years Ago – A Look Back

I’ve been following Carole and her Blog, From My Carolina Home, for longer than I can remember. I thought today I’d look back 5 years ago when I wrote a Blog post about her 2021 Autumn Jubilee which was a month-long, multi project event.

While for a number of years Carole did this month-long blog event but for the last few years she has been doing Fall Fortnight, two weeks in which she shares her various talents and interests with activities and giveaways.

Autumn Outside and In

October is one of the Transitional Months. It’s not all hot like July and August but it’s not all cold like January and February. Last week we had days in the high 80°’s almost 90°. But forecast is calling for nights this week in the low 40°’s. Some mornings we need a jacket but by lunchtime we want to be in short sleeves.

Fall in the Yard

Several trees in our neighborhood have begun showing signs of changing into their fall colors. But one of the first signs of fall in our neighborhood is the blooming of the Pompas Grass.

Sunday Odds & Ends

The year is moving faster & faster. Last Wednesday was the last day of September. And (Gasp!) there are only 7 more weekends until Thanksgiving (U.S.) and 11 more weekends until Christmas.  For our Canadian friends there is only 1 weekend until Canadian Thanksgiving which is Monday, October 12th. So, do you think it’s time to Panic!

In My Sewing Room This Weekend  – 9/27/2026

Perfect weekend for sewing! Cool, cloudy & rainy. No where we wanted to go and too messy to do anything outside.

The meteorologist called it a Nor’easter. Growing up I only remembered that referring to snow storms in New England. According to AI & Wikipedia apparently they are most common & most violent from November to March. This storm develops in the western North Atlantic Ocean and impacts the upper North Atlantic U.S. coast up to Canada.

First Full Day of Fall

The calendar says that Fall officially started Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 8:05 pm EDT. Daylight and nighttime are nearly equal all over the world. Now the days will become shorter and the nights will grow longer.

My household plants that have been enjoying some outdoor time had to come in. Nighttime temperatures have dipped into the low 50’s (maybe high 40’s).
