It’s the Weekend – Sep 9-10, 2017

I haven’t gotten as much quilting done this week as I had planned. Monday I  spent cooking for a family in the neighborhood to welcome a new baby – Turkey Breast in the slow pot, Zucchini Casserole & Roasted Sweet Potatoes  in the oven, Yeast Rolls & Grape Nuts Breakfast Muffins, Jell-O fruit Salad & Fluffy Strawberry  Freezer Pie. Got to hold the 4 day old when we delivered dinner.

VSSM Collector – 1951 Centennial Featherweight (221)

Not a quilting post, but related. I’ve always loved history, so antiques interest me. But not just any old antiques. Old items that have a special meaning to me.

Now you may be wondering exactly what a VSSM is. It stands for Vintage Singer Sewing Machine.  Now the definitions of Vintage and Antique can be different when talking about different objects. Tops for Fabric Cafe

Donna, of Fabric Cafe, has been working on another book and several of us have been testing the patterns.  It is so much fun, but we can’t share the pictures until the book is released later this year.

But I can share some of the tops I’ve made using existing patterns with new fabric!

This Friendship Star Pattern is a great way of using a large print fabric with two contrasting/complementary fabrics.

2017 Project Linus Mystery Quilt Challenge-sign Up

Last year was the 2nd Project Linus Mystery Challenge “Gracie’s Get Well Garden.” This was a fun project and I enjoyed it very much. I challenged myself to make this using only fabrics from my stash.  I was even able to find some fabric I had for the backing which included woodland critters.

My Goals for September 2017

In my last post I identified my One Monthly Goal for September.  I’ve linked up with the group at Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal September Link-up.  I won’t be starting that project until later, but I have a few other projects on my to-do list.

So I thought I would make my list here and we will see how much I will get accomplished.
