Tuesday Tips–2/10/2015

Good Morning!  Have you done any sewing this week?  I consider myself an experienced quilter, but also feel that I am constantly learning something to improve my craft.  Here are a few tips that I’ve seen this past week.

Heather takes some of the popular products, prints on them, sews them on to a small ‘quilt’ and washes them.  And washes them some more! This is an interesting read on her thoughts comparing the results.

The Week That Was–2/8/2015

 

The week started with some cold weather and a smattering of snow.  This was just about all we got.

The rest of the week was windy & cold.  With temperatures down in the teens and wind-chills much lower it was great weather to stay in and stitch!

Stitching for Good–2/6/2015

Formerly known as “Quilting For Good” our group of stitchers are now known as “Stitching For Good.”  Meeting on the First Friday of the Month (during September – June) we still make quilts for charity, but we have expanded to also sew things like pillowcases, placemats, bags and other items for hospitals and non-profit organizations. There are kits available or participants bring their own projects.

I need some new pot holders, think this is going to the top of my To-Do list.  Maybe a good use for my scraps?

Tuesday Tips–2/3/2015

Winter is still with us, and according to the Ground Hog, we will be having 6 more weeks of winter.  So I’m guessing that means we will have 6 more weeks of sewing time!

Today will be a sewing day for me, but before that gets started here is today’s list of Tips:

  • Bed Sizes/Quilt Sizes – A different Twist. Your blocks are 12” Finished, so how many do you need across and down to make a Twin or a Queen Quilt?  This chart will help you calculate how many blocks you need for what size.
