Before I show you what I’m working on, I want to share my newest acquisition.

Look what I picked up on my way home from the Pennsylvania National Quilt Expo. As I mentioned yesterday, I had dropped my sewing machine off for a Spa Day while I was working the Quilt Show in Oaks, PA. I’ve been wanting these for some time, but this week they were on sale for 25% off, so I couldn’t resist getting them when I picked up my machine.

Teflon Pressure Feet

Do you know what these are?

If you guessed Pressure Feet for a Sewing Machine you are mostly right.  But they are special feet.  They are not special in one sense, as one is a Zipper Foot, and the other is a Zig Zag Foot.  They are special because they are Teflon coated.  I have both of these feet without the coating already, but the Teflon coating is there to help the feet glide over ‘sticky’ fabric.  By ‘sticky’ fabric, I mean fabric similar to oil cloth, vinyl, chalk-cloth or plastic.  These fabrics will often stick to regular feet which causes problems when sewing.  Now I need to get working on some projects to use these.

Also at the Quilt Show I picked up some fabric I had ordered for my OMG (One Monthly Goal) – a quilt for a family member.  Sunday I ironed the fabric and cut it, but didn’t get any sewing done.

3 yard Bundle – Choo Choo Fabric Cut

I make cutting sheets for each fabric with the instructions.  This helps me keep everything straight, especially if there are pieces cut similarly.  See the orange fabric strips.  Both sets are cut the same width, but one set is for the blocks and the other is for a border.  I’ve decided to use Fabric Cafe’s Porch Rails Pattern which should make up very quickly.  I hope to get some sewing time today.

I did get a little stitching done on Sunday.  After I got my sewing machine set back up and my sewing room a bit straighter, I wanted to just do a little stitching.  I’ve been following a QAL (Quilt Along) – I Wish You a Merry Christmas.  I haven’t been stitching any of the blocks yet, so I wanted to make this simple block – Block #3.

I’ve been following the I Wish You a Merry Christmas Facebook Page and enjoy seeing all the variations the talented stitchers create.  I made a modification to the block that I had seen several others had also made.
