Have you ever gotten in the middle of making a quilt top and discovered there was an error in the pattern instructions? That can be frustrating, especially if it is a cutting error. At Fabric Cafe every new pattern is not only read & re-read, but is actually made. We are human and some mistakes may squeak by, but we do our best to try and catch them before releasing the pattern.
In August 2025 Fabric Cafe sent me three bundles and three patterns to test. I only make the Flimsy (top) and send it back to Fabric Cafe where it is then finished into a completed quilt before the pattern is published.
Make It Scrappy with 3 Yard Quilts
The eight patterns in the book are made with 3 yards of fabric, but the book includes a bonus Scrap Strategy for making them with scraps. You can read more about this book Here.
The three patterns I made were Vibe, Improv and Jumble.
Vibe Pattern
The Vibe pattern creates a throw size 36″ x 52″ which is great for cuddling up & watching TV.
This pattern results in an elegant design but is deceptively simple. It uses Half Square Triangles (HSTs) and Stitch and Flip to create just one block. This one block is then just rotated as the top is assembled.
Improv Pattern
The Improv pattern makes a 41″ x 57″ throw. This pattern uses two simple blocks which, when combined, create an impressive modern design that is beginner friendly.
Jumble Pattern
The Jumble 3 yard quilt size is 45″ x 54″. But using 2 yards each of 3 fabrics it makes a twin topper: 60½” x 78½” or get a queen/king topper: 102″ x 93″ by using 4 yards each of 3 fabrics. Instructions for making the larger sizes for all eight patterns are included in the book.
