The Week That Was – 8/21/2026

You’ll never know what you’ll find when you start digging into your stash! I ran into a problem this week while in my sewing room annex. It wasn’t a bad problem.  Just a change of plans.

Unknown Treasures

You never know what Treasures you’ll find when you start looking through your stash!

A Change of Plans

I have more fabric than I can store in my sewing room so there is additional fabric in another room. The fabric here really isn’t very organized. There is a third location that has odds & ends. But we won’t talk about that.

Unorganized Stash

There is an assortment of batting, flannel, fleece & quilting fabric. This is yet to be organized.

There is a special project coming up in October and I’ve been trying to gather all my fall fabric in one spot. I thought I had but discovered more in my sewing room annex. So, I dug into additional piles/boxes to see what I would find.

An Unexpected Find – I’ve mentioned I need to make a baby quilt for a great grand nephew who is to be born in October.  The nursery colors are Yellow, Green & Brown. But it has been a struggle to choose a brown to go with the yellow & green I had picked. I just wasn’t happy.

And what to my wondering eyes did appear – a baby quilt kit that included the backing and was in the perfect colors!

Found in my Stash - a baby quilt kit

Luckily I had just ironed the original fabric but had not started cutting. So a change of plans. I will be working on this quilt this weekend.

A morning of cutting and I’m ready for Saturday Sewing!

Another Find – While going through the Annex Stash I also discovered 3 quilt tops that are finished & just need backing

Finished quilt tops

I have material for the backing for the middle top but will shop my stash for the other two tops backing.

I think I might see a light at the end of my Christmas dilemma. If I can find some backing fabric and get them to my long arm quilter I just might have some Christmas presents!

Another Change of Plans

This week was supposed to be a stay at home week. Instead we had a day of errands added. A crown came off (not mine!) so a dentist appointment was required.

Since we were leaving home anyway I was able to schedule an eye doctor appointment near the dentist. I ordered some new glasses which I’ll probably get next week. Fall is the time I schedule my various annual checkups so just getting an early start.

Looking Ahead

Just a teaser – Mark your Calendars for something special coming in October. More info later.

Hope you are making progress on whatever you are stitching this week!

Happy Stitching!
