January 2020 Finishes for Fabric Cafe

As many of my followers know, I make flimsy tops for quilts which will be displayed in the booth of Fabric Cafe at all the quilt shows they attend. Instead of “Tele-work,” I like to say I “Postal-work.” We don’t live close to each other – like nearly halfway across the country. So our work together is either via email or snail-mail. She emails me the patterns, then snail-mails me some fabric. After I make the tops/flimsies, I snail-mail them back to her. Staff at the shop makes the backing. She has a local longarm quilter that quilts them and she adds the binding as a final step. It is truly a cooperative endeavor!

February 2020 – UFO and OMG

I’m a bit slow this year getting organized. We’re still working on my remodel /reorganization of my sewing space. I’m making lists to help me keep it straight and bought some plastic containers to try & organize projects.

As I clean in my sewing room, I keep finding more and more that needs to be done, so I keep adding them to my lists.

I’ve Got a Quilt in a Contest!

It is a contest, but it is also a fund raiser for a great charity. In the Fall, for the past 4 years, I’ve participated in the Project Linus Mystery Quilt Challenge. For a donation of $15 I received clues to create a quilt. Then in February of the following year there is a Contest and 30 of the quilts made are chosen to receive votes. This is the first time I have submitted my quilt to the contest. There are prizes for the quilts that receive the most votes.

Holidays are Over, The New Year has Begun

It seems like I just turn around and another month has flown by, then two, then three. No, I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth! :p November had a Quilt Retreat plus Thanksgiving, followed by December/Christmas & lots of last minute sewing for gifts. Then came January and gathering files for filing taxes plus making 3 tops for Fabric Cafe. And now it’s February.

Here is a picture of a project I was sewing on at my November Retreat. I’ll share more about this later.

Where Did October Go???

I cannot believe it. November is HERE!! Although we had a whole lot of rain earlier in the year, the past month or so we’ve ended up in a drought condition. They say because of the lack of water, our fall colors won’t be as bright. But I know it’s fall when my Pampas Grass “blooms.”
