Some Weeks Aren’t Meant for Stitching!

This week will not have a lot of stitching done. Today will be filled with errands & appointments. But that doesn’t stop me from checking out quilty projects on the web.

In case you don’t have enough projects to do, have you seen what’s happening on the Quilty Pleasure Blog?

Quiltmaker announced last week their Back to School Blog Party – September 14-18, 2015 sew-along. You’re not too late to start.

It isn’t a Mystery Quilt, but a Free Quilt Pattern delivered in small daily doses! Pull out your light/medium/dark scraps and have fun.

The Village Square Quilt, designed by Melissa Corry, consists of 16” blocks that finishes to a 64” x 80” throw.

Today is the first day so join them each day this week for block instructions, tips and see the pattern made by their team of Back to School Party reader-quilters. I will be saving the steps so I can make in later.

Hope you can squeeze some stitching in this week.

Who Needs Pillowcases?

For National Sewing Month, AllPeopleQuilt.com will be hosting a 24 Hour Million Pillowcase Sew-A-Thon on September 18-19. You are invited to participate either with an organized event or along with some friends or by yourself. For more details see my post, click here.

I believe in supporting our small, independent, local quilt shops. Please check in your area to see if any shops are collecting Pillowcases for Charity.

These are some pillowcases made by the Stitching for Good group that were donated to a hospital supported by a local quilt shop, Capital Quilts.

Sunday Snipits–9/6/2015

In the USA, this weekend is a holiday – Labor Day. According to the US Department of Labor’s “History of Labor Day” webpage:

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
