Before I can settle down to making pillowcases I must first get dinner in the slow pot. I don’t want to stop and waste valuable sewing time this afternoon to make dinner.
This is where the Slow Pot comes in handy. After breakfast, I took a few minutes to throw some ingredients in to make Beef Stew. I’m using a Reynolds Slow Pot Liner to make dinner clean up quicker.
Last week there was a scheduled 24-hour Pillowcase sew-A-Thon on September 18-19 to benefit Ryan’s Case for Smiles (Formerly ConKerr Cancer). I was unable to attend the Sew-A-Thon at my LQS (Local Quilt Shop) last week so I set aside today as my Pillowcase sewing day. I have enjoyed following the activities that have been posted on Case for Smiles’ Facebook Page.

Don’t know about you, but I usually have a million projects going at once. OK, maybe not a million – just feels like it sometimes!
Now that doesn’t count things like laundry, housework, cooking, paying bills & grocery shopping. Although these projects do eat up a lot of my time. And we won’t mention the time spent writing blog posts!
Have you ever asked yourself that question? I know, the answer is “it depends.” Yes, it does depend on the size of the quilt you make. Obviously a baby quilt takes less fabric than a King-size quilt.
This is a quilt my mother-in-law made. The blocks are 18” square and the quilt is about 80” x 98”. It’s on my To-Do List to make one like it some day.

First, let me tell you, I won’t be sewing pillowcases on the 18-19th. I set aside Thursday, 9/24, stitching the pillowcases because I am busy this week.
Before getting started, we need to get some fabric. A store in my area was having a sale, plus they had coupons which were even good on sale items. So guess where I went?!?!
I picked up 1-1/2 yards of each of these fabrics. That will give me 6 standard size pillowcases.
