In May 2025 I received 3 bundles from Fabric Cafe to make tops.
These three patterns were new 3-yard quilts. They are individual patterns and are not in a book.
Although Fabric Cafe now has 33 pattern books, there are a number of single patterns, too. When I first started testing patterns or making sample tops there were mostly single patterns. Now, there are 45 individual 3-yard patterns and eight 5-yard patterns plus four Fat Quarter patterns not included in books (if I counted right). There is a free downloadable check list if you need to keep track of your pattern inventory!
Dimensions
The Dimensions quilt will be 40″ x 58″ and works up fairly quickly. There are no HSTs but using Stitch-n-Flip there is some trimming necessary.
There are only two blocks used in this quilt. The first one is a Snowball block that could use a directional print. Add Stitch-n-Flip on all four corners and the block is finished
The second block is a Snowball block with a twist. Strip piecing is used to make this block. Then Stitch-n-Flip is used to create the illusion of rounded edges. The center is directional friendly.
There are six rows in this quilt. If using directional pattern, the odd and even rows are made separately. But if not using a directional pattern fabric, the rows can be made all the same and every other row is flipped.

Sparkle
The Sparkle pattern makes a throw size quilt that measures 42″ x 54″. And it can be found here.
TIP – This pattern has a lot of pieces and some are similar in size. I copied the Assembly diagrams & cut each step separately. Then I stacked each of the cut pieces with the matching instructions. This helped me to use the right cut pieces with the right steps.
One night our daughter’s car was totaled while parked in front of our house. We had the joy of urgently shopping for another car. I took my HSTs along for the ride one day. While she checked out a car I trimmed the Sparkle HSTs. And NO! I did NOT trim while she was driving.
This pattern has two star blocks that have a center which will work with directional fabric. One block has a larger center than the other.
Assembly of this pattern includes 2 sizes of HSTs plus Stitch-n-Flip.
Pretty Packages
Perfect for Christmas, this 3-yard quilt measures 42-1/2″ x 60-1/2″. You can find it here on Fabric Cafe’s site.
There are just two blocks and one block is simply a square of fabric. The simple square would work well with directional fabric.
I think the Package Block would make a cute throw pillow to add to your Christmas decorations.
With two borders, this pattern can be made in a weekend and be ready for this Christmas. You will need 3 yards of backing material and twin batting. As written the binding is single fold and if you prefer a double fold binding you will need an extra 1/2 yard.
