I’m behind in my posting this. The 3rd Clue was released last week for the Fat Quarter Shop’s Mystery Quilt Along which was the first of the four projects I plan to work on this Fall. The steps are released on five Tuesdays. You can join in if you’d like. The pattern is free and can be downloaded from Fat Quarter Shop’s website.

Before going to bed I checked and the printed pattern was already available to download. The video wasn’t available until later. I wanted to view the tutorial before starting.

I watched the video tutorial for Block/Row #3 for All the Trimmings Week 3 while I had my breakfast. I didn’t get started on this until I finished the top I was making for Fabric Cafe.

This Row has lots of piecing. I had to use “A” through “P” of the Alphabitties to label/identify all the cut pieces and laid them out on the Design Board. Ready to start stitching. I forgot to get a picture of that step.

I did get a picture of the first units marked and pinned ready to stitch.

After assembling the blocks (and more pressing), I added the background sashing and assembled the row.

Well, I’m pleased! Week #3 row is finished. Even with all I’ve been doing I am keeping up. I will be getting busier and busier, so I’m sure I will fall behind. This Project has one more row and finishing. I’m hoping to get it done before too long.

Work on my Row #3 waited until I pieced another top for Fabric Cafe. I finished the first top on Wednesday and started the 2nd top on Thursday. First step I always do it to iron the fabric and print out separate cutting instructions for each of the three different fabrics.

The tops I am making are found in the book Quilts in a Jiffy. One is Ashford Square and the other is Button Box. The fabric will not be available until later this fall.

Button Box was a twin-size quilt top. The books not only have 8 patterns for a throw-size quilts using three one-yard fabrics, but each pattern has instructions to enlarge: Twin takes 6 yards (2 yards each of three fabrics) and King/Queen (4 yards each of three fabrics).

I continue working on the quilting, but it’s nice to take a break and work on some piecing.
