July 2019 – OMG & UFO
One Monthly Goal
My OMG for 2019 involves two Project Linus quilts. I’m making two of the 2017 pattern and one of the 2018 pattern. Each month during 2019 my goal is to make a block for each quilt.
I’m Still Here
It’s been a while, I know. April was busy preparing and attending the Spring Quilt Retreat. May included a week of play dates with a 21-month-old neighbor. June’s days were spent traveling (including a bowling date with our grandson), and 2 weeks of play dates with a 21-month-old neighbor.
I did get some stitching done in June. Before our trip to see our grandson, I made him an 18″ Reading Pillow with a pocket & handle, plus an Art Supply Bag filled with a matching Zipper Pouch with colored markers, glue stick & wavy scissors along with a sketch pad & some construction paper. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures.
Later in the month I made travel pillows for two neighbor children. The farm animals was for the nearly 2 year-old who loves to read, identify animals & make the appropriate sounds – Moo, Baa & Quack. His older brother will be starting kindergarten in the fall & recently went to orientation. The school’s mascot is the sea turtle & I found this cute sea turtle fabric.

Other March 2019 Finishes
March has been a busy month. I’m working on a number of projects. Most of them are bits and pieces of larger projects. Along with my UFOs and OMGs, I’ve worked on two Quilt Alongs (QAL) and actually made & gifted a quilt and some pillowcases.
Fat Quarter Shop Charity QAL – Threadology – Blocks #3 & #4. This QAL supports
Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas! Each block released is actually 5 blocks – one 12″ Finished block & four 6″ Finished blocks. I’m using scraps from the nearly 100 quilt tops that I have made for Fabric Cafe over the past 9 years.
Hand Pieced QAL – Blocks #7, 8 & 9 of the Hand Pieced QAL sponsored by Patty of Elm Street Quilting & Kristin of Simply Everyday Handmade. I’ve been making two of each block with slightly different fabrics. I found I really like the colors on my 2nd blocks (the ones on the right). I’ll finish my 2nd Block 9 tomorrow. I didn’t decide that these were my favorites until Block #6. I have to redo two blocks to pick up the same fabrics/colors, so that will leave me 9 blocks on one project and a remaining 11 blocks. I know the setting for the 9 blocks, but will have to think about what to do with the 11. Maybe a Table Runner, Placemats or just Mug Rugs.
Gifts: I don’t often do this, but I actually made this quilt in just a week. Yes, from picking the pattern (Pattern: Four Square by Fabric Cafe) & fabric, washing the fabric, cutting and piecing the top, piecing the backing, sandwiching the top/batting/backing, quilting (on my domestic sewing machine), and making & adding the binding and label. The Quilt is for a friend that needed some hugs & I made pillowcases for her sons. I stitched their names on the trim of each pillowcase. The last picture is of some Travel Pillowcases for a niece & 2 nephews.

The second row from Left to Right is (1)a picture of me wrestling with quilting it on my Domestic Sewing Machine, (2) the sun shining on the quilted top & (3) the pillowcases for her 3 sons. The bottom picture is of the three Travel Pillowcases made for 2 of our nephews and a niece.

March 2019 UFO & OMG Finishes
Spring is about here. Saturday the temps got into the high 70’s. Pollen is beginning to decorate everything. My car now is a greenish yellow or is it a yellowish green??
