Thanksgiving 2017

Just taking a quick break.  There are just the four of us and with the hectic, overwhelming past few months we opted for simple.  The Turkey Breast is smelling great while it is cooking in the Crock Pot.

It’s the Middle of November!

Where did October go?? Fall colors are turning brown and a lot of the leaves are on the ground.  Our local government provides two Leaf Collections per Fall where they have large ‘vacuum’ trucks come by and ‘suck’ up all the leaves we have raked or blown to the curb.  The first one came early for us this year so we have a yard full of leaves.

I haven’t had a chance to take any fall pictures this year, but here’s a picture from a previous year.  We do have some lovely, old trees in our neighborhood.

October 2017 – Not Done List

My attempt to get my stitching mojo back, has run into a major road block. To paraphrase – The best-laid plans of (QuiltMouse) and men often go awry.  The beginning of the month I shared a list of projects I wanted to accomplish in October including the One Monthly Goal.  The month began fairly productive, but then our world turned upside down and we are now trying to find our new normal for the coming months.

Here it is, my (ambitious) list of projects for October and what got accomplished in the first 10 days.

This is Saturday, Isn’t It??

Have you ever had some days when everything you had planned didn’t happen and lots of stuff you didn’t plan did happen?  Then after all that going around you have no idea what day it is??  That’s been the last several days and all day I’ve had to remind myself that yesterday was still Saturday.

Friday was an important day, because Carole at From My North Carolina Home Blog, released Part 2 of her Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along.  I’m behind, but if things settle down, it shouldn’t be hard to catch up.

First Friday in October

Well, the calendar says it is fall, but so far the temperature doesn’t agree.  There have been a few cooler days, but it’s still warm.  If you look real hard you do see some signs of fall.

My yellow & gold mums have been enjoying the weather and our Pampas Grass has bloomed.  As long as we don’t have any extreme wind or heavy rain (or snow), we will be able to enjoy these plumes for some time.
