This week I did a little bit of Raw Edge Fusible Appliqué and I want to share a couple of Tips.
First, when using Fusible for either large pieces or for pieces that will result in multiple layers, trim the inner Fusible before applying it to the wrong side of the fabric. This will eliminate some excess layers which can cause the appliqué to result in thick layers. Sorry, I didn’t take any pictures. Envision, a large circle with the middle cut out making it look like a donut.
I’ve been keeping busy. In addition to Project Linus’ Gracie’s Get Well Garden Mystery Quilt Challenge, I am following two other Quilt Alongs.
I’ve shared a button on the right for one of the other Quilt Alongs. It isn’t a mystery. We already know the pattern, and we have a choice of which size we will be making.
Gracie’s Get Well Garden Mystery Quilt Challenge is a 7-Week Mystery Quilt Along which is a fund raiser for Project Linus. It costs $15 to register and get access to the Clues. Proceeds benefit the National Organization and can also be designated to your local Chapter.
After the “Great Reveal” on Week #7, there will be a Contest. Beginning October 23rd through January 15th, Completed Quilts can be submitted. Twenty finalists will be chosen and then voted on by viewers. The voting will also be a fund-raiser, and will run from February 1-17, 2017.
Can you say we’re having fun? Well I can! It’s not too late to join us in making this Mystery Quilt. If you register now, you can download all the clues to date. If you don’t have time to sew it right now, you can save the clues to work on later.
This started on September 10th, with the cutting instructions, and will go through November 26th with a Link-up Party to show off our creations.
Unlike Project Linus, Gracie’s Get Well Garden, this is not a Mystery. We not only know what the finished quilt will look like, we have been given 4 sizes to choose from: Baby, Crib, Lap or Full size. Several different color schemes have been demonstrated and even a scrappy option has been suggested.
