It’s been a busy week. Daughter is home on vacation. Hubby has been cleaning in the basement. My PT two days and hubby’s doctor visits two days and where has the week gone?!
In the Sewing Room
Fabric Cafe Top was finished and sent back. I think you’ll like this one. It is an already released pattern but in a new fabric line. Once it is released I’ll be able to share it with you.
Some light cleaning was accompanied before pulling out the Dino Quilt to quilt.
Did you realize there are only 20 weekends until Christmas? I feel I’m already behind. I need to make my list & get organized.
Physical Therapy Progress
I Graduated! Wednesday was my last day of PT. Shoulder surgery was almost five months ago and I’ve been in PT for more than three months. My range of motion has greatly improved but I still need more strength training.
The doctor came up to see me and he was pleased with my progress. He said to still avoid heavy lifting or pulling and wait until October before doing any intensive over-the-head movement – like swinging a tennis racket. I’m to continue working on strength training gradually adding/increasing weights to my range of motion.
My therapist has been very creative with my exercises. I tell her of an activity which is difficult and she gives me an exercise to help me improve. Example, I cannot lift a full gallon of milk and pour it into a glass. A gallon of milk equals about eight pounds. I do not have the strength to raise it so she gave me a four pound weight and a eight inch cone. I do 2 sets of 10 reps of lifting the weight and copy the motion of pouring milk.
In the Garden This Week
The past month or so we’ve had some wickedly hot temperatures which have kept us indoors. This week has been more bearable even though it’s rained almost every day.
I was able to pop out in our front yard and check out the plants (and weeds). The Begonia plant has been happy on the front porch table under the umbrella.

We live about 4-5 blocks from a park with a creek and a 10+ mile nature trail which includes lots of wild animals. It’s not uncommon for us to see foxes, raccoons, woodchucks and deer along with rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. One year there was even a black bear traveling nearby! Not the usual wildlife visitor.
Although I’ve not seen them as much this year it isn’t uncommon to see deer walking our street heading north in the morning and south in the evening. Could it be due to the heat they are staying closer to the creek? So apparently our hosta plants have been able to thrive.

Our previous next door neighbor loved her garden. She would sometimes share a few plants with us. Every time I see this Resurrection Lilly I think of Willie.

We discovered an Unknown Volunteer. It’s either a Zucchini, Summer Squash, Butternut Squash or Pumpkin. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
